Scholarship

This year the PBWC was able to provide $20,000 in scholarships, based on proceeds from our High Tea Spring Event held specifically as our fundraising effort for Mission Bay High School scholarships. PBWC members pictured are Erin M., Lily H., and Linda S., along with the awardees.

Each year, applicants for these scholarships undergo evaluation considering academic accomplishments, volunteer work, personal triumphs, extracurricular involvement, employment, family commitments, and the applicants’ prospective goals and aspirations in higher education, as articulated in their personal statements.

  1. Tatum Merrill will attend University of Colorado – Boulder to study political science and environmental studies, where she will continue to feed her passion for environmental activism and involvement.
  2. Chelsea Long plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in English and start her own non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of literacy among American youth.
  3. Mia Osuna’s goal is to pursue a career as a school counselor, where she can be a role model for marginalized students, promote equity and be a trusted source of support.
  4. Daniela Alonso-Levy’s goal is to get a degree in psychology, where she aspires to become a beacon of hope for individuals grappling with mental health challenges.
  5. Annika Wester is attending UC-Davis, where she sees opportunities to work in a laboratory and make impactful discoveries through research projects in her development as a scientist and scholar.
  6. Alessandra Alluim’s plans are to embark on a journey as a journalism major at New York University, to pursue her dream of becoming an investigative crime reporter.
  7. Ellie Bauer begins her UCLA journey. She hopes to continue her passion and dedication to the STEM field, harnessing the power of math to make a positive impact on society.
  8. Jadyn Ganss is a first-generation college student and plans to attend Williams College in Massachusetts and be instrumental in producing opportunities for others through increasing inclusivity within higher education.
  9. Sophie Jetzer will attend UC-Santa Barbara and will use her degree in English to contribute by editing textbooks and novels for the next generation of high school students.
  10. Tatum Semmens will attend Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University and study sports business, where she will continue to share her creativity in illustrating the love and community that are made possible through sports.
